Navigating

In order to use the Launcher normally you need to learn how to navigate within it first. When you open the launcher, after you add and assign files in it, it should look like this:

  1. This is the game entries list. Here, you can select the game you want to view information about and/or to play.
As you see in this picture, there are marks in front of each entry:
: This game has file assigned, this file is exist in the disk and can be played.
X  : The game has no file assigned or the file is not exist in disk. This game cannot be played.
To play selected game, mouse double click on it or press ENTER.
To show info about selected game, mouse right click on it then choose Rom Info.
To rate selected game, simply click on the stars on the Rating column.
Also you can reorder columns by dragging-dropping selected column from position to other.
By clicking on column, you can sort entries A to Z or Z to A using the column data. For example, click on the Size column to sort games by size from smallest file size to largest file size, this is A to Z. Click again to sort from largest file size to smallest file size, this is the Z to A. Same for all other columns.
Note that the Rating column sort work as same as the Size column, the rating value ranged 0-5, 0 means no rating and 5 is the largest value.
  1. This is the left toolbar. Using this bar, you can filter game entries with specific filters. Also there are few buttons for quick access the games.
Under the SHOW label, there are the filter buttons:
ALL: this button will show all available game entries in the database. This is just like asking the SQLite database to return all the entries in the games table. This filter is used by default.
DATABESE: shows the game entries that belong to NesCartDB. Note that these entries are the ones generated from NesCartDB. If you haven't chosen to generate these entries (see First Time Launching The Launcher) then no entry will be shown using this filter.
NOT DB: shows the game entries that doesn't belong to NesCartDB.
FILES: shows the game entries that have files assigned (can be played) including the ones that belong to NesCartDB.
MISSING: shows the game entries the has no file assigned or the file is missing from the disk. In other word, show the games that cannot be played including the game entries that belong to NesCartDB.

These buttons called the quick access buttons:
PLAY: play selected game. Works only when one entry is selected.
INFO: show info about selected game. See Show Rom Info . Works only when one entry is selected.

NOTES

  • Deleting entries/entry will be applied directly in the database and can't be undone.
  • Sorting entries and/or using filters will never affect the database itself (the new order never get saved).
  • Changing column order, size and/or visibility will be saved in database immediately. You should wait a few seconds after column action (reorder or resize) to be saved in the database, otherwise errors and mistakes may occur although it's built to avoid these kind of errors.
  • The Info Tabs are empty by defaults after you add and/or assign files. You need to Detect Info Files to activate them.
  • Again, these marks may appear in front of each entry:
: This game has file assigned, this file is exist in the disk and can be played.
X  : The game has no file assigned or the file is not exist in disk. This game cannot be played.
  • If you select more than one entry, then close the Launcher with Remember selection option is enabled, the Launcher will only remember first entry selected.
  • The Info Tabs get updated when you select ONE entry. More or less entries selected will deactivate the tabs.
